INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF MOS2 SURFACE COATED ON ABRASION AND FATIGUE WEAR ON SPUR GEAR WHICH IS PREPARED FROM AISI 316 STAINLESS STEEL
 
Coating processes gain more importance with the development of technology in the machinery manufacturing sector in terms of its effect on surface wear and fatigue. As a result of the design, the machine parts used in the machines wear out during the operation process. When the gears are operated, wear on the tooth surfaces and breakage on the edges of the gears occur due to the formation of high pressure on the tooth surface of the gears during force transmission. It is one of the most important issues in the machinery industry to monitor these processes and to take the necessary precautions to prevent wear when necessary. Although it is the desired expectation to eliminate the wear event in mechanical systems, scientists and engineers working in the related field only make ways to minimize the wear event with experimental studies. Although the lubrication process, which is one of the most important methods that reduces wear from the tooth surface of the spur gear wheels, which is one of the surface contact machine parts, passes, it improves the tooth surfaces of the spur gear working under high tension by coating methods. One of these methods is the application of coating the surfaces working under high tension in accordance with the working conditions. In the experimental study, in order to examine the wear occurring in MoS2 coated and uncoated gear wheels made of AISI316 stainless steel, the working principle of the experimental setup named “FZG closed-circuit power circulation system” was manufactured with a gear wheel fatigue and wear test setup and wear tests were carried out. As a result of the damage analysis, a comparison was made considering the MoS2 coating applied to the tooth surface. The data obtained as a result of the experimental study were evaluated. It was observed that the coating provided protection in the wear and fatigue studies of the gear wheels.
